Flying Eagle Cents
1857 1C MS65 PCGS. A full strike on the eagle and all wreath elements is perhaps the defining feature of this Gem Flying Eagle cent. Certainly, the vibrant luster and attractive shades of bronze-gold and lilac add to the appeal, as does the fantastic state of preservation. Splashes of reddish color are seen across both sides, most notably at the central reverse. A curious die lump occurs on the upper part of the feathers near OF, and the 5 shows repunching on the flag. The PCGS Population Report lists 18 higher submissions (3/17).
