1917 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS64 Red and Brown NGC. The date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and Lincoln's bowtie all show prominent die doubling. An early die state exhibits faint doubling on the RTY in LIBERTY, although this coin does not show it. Fiery copper-orange luster frames the legends and central devices, while the exposed regions exhibit violet-tinged chestnut-brown toning. A few scattered flecks blend into the patina. The strike is sharply executed.
