1972 1C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS67 Red PCGS. CAC. Several years ago, this cataloger had the pleasure of seeing a father and son at a small town coin club present a circulated 1972 doubled die cent that they had discovered while looking through some bank rolls. Such a find is rare for a circulated example and likely impossible for high-end Mint State coins such as that offered here. This Superb Gem Red example is a beautiful Registry Set candidate. The strike is bold, and the satiny surfaces are nearly flawless. Rich copper-red and rose-gold hues blend together over each side. The certified population is small in this grade and almost nonexistent finer. Population: 47 in 67 Red, 1 finer. CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (3/17).
