1918-D 5C MS65 NGC. The 1918-D nickel is famous for the overdate variety of this year, although the normal date version is itself scarce in Gem condition and rare finer. This piece displays glistening, champagne-tined mint luster and has no distracting abrasions. Slight strike weakness occurs as usual on the bison's shoulder and the hair above the Indian's braid. Census: 32 in 65 (2 in 65 ★), 5 finer (3/17).
