Proof Jefferson Nickels
1942-P 5C Type Two PR66 Cameo PCGS. In 1942, the Mint produced Jefferson nickels in the regular, pre-war composition, switching to an alloy of silver, copper, and manganese in October. Proofs were struck in both formats. The latter specimens, identified by a P mintmark above Monticello, are moderately scarcer with a mintage of 27,600 pieces. The 1942 Type Two is almost always found uncontrasted. Cameo representatives are very rare. This brilliant Premium Gem proof has elements of powder-blue color and profoundly reflective fields. Minimal contact marks. Population: 8 in 66 Cameo, 3 finer (3/17).
