Standing Liberty Quarters
1919-D 25C MS64+ Full Head PCGS. The 1919-D Standing Liberty quarter is among the most challenging issues in the series in Full Head, even more so than the certified population reports indicate. Gem Full Head coins are exceedingly rare. The '19-D is actually traded less frequently in Full Head grades than the legendary 1926-D. This issue does not share the often sharp strike for which its Philadelphia brother is known. The head and date areas are frequently flat, and the shield rivets seldom have strong definition. The current near-Gem example is sharp on Liberty's head and the date, and all shield rivets are at least partially discernible. Softness is seen on the eagle's breast feathers. This satiny, Plus-designated coin displays well-preserved surfaces with a hint of light champagne toning. Population: 28 in 64 (4 in 64+) Full Head, 21 finer (3/17).
