Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-101a, T-7, High R.3, VF30 NGC. The 1794 O-101 half dollar is the most plentiful variety of the 11 known die pairs for the date, and it is an excellent candidate for date collectors or first-year type collectors. Although NGC designates this as the late die state, O-101a, it is an early stage of that die state with the crack through the F in OF barely visible. Both sides exhibit smooth surfaces with olive toning on the obverse and dappled lilac toning on the reverse. A few trivial divots and scratches on the obverse fail to diminish the importance of this early half dollar.
