Early Half Dollars
1794 50C O-104, T-11, R.5, VF35 NGC. 1794 is the first year of the Flowing Hair type, and a significantly rarer date than its 1795 successor. A majority of 1794 halves are O-101, but the present example is the more elusive O-104, the sole variety with a berry below the C in AMERICA. Golden-brown and powder-blue patina embraces this well-defined and attractive Choice VF representative. Neither side displays consequential marks. The dies were slightly out of parallel, which causes moderate incompleteness of strike on the AME in AMERICA and opposite on stars 13 and 14.
