1805/4 50C O-102, T-5, R.3, AU55 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/2. Diagnostic markers for this variety include the 5 in the date punched over an underlying 4, star 13 away from the drapery, and four berries on the olive branch. This AU55 half dollar is tied for third place on Steve M. Tompkins' Condition Census for the variety. The strike is decidedly bold with stars 4 through 7 fully raised, a strong portrait, and only a bit of the usual softness on the lower portion of the shield. Iridescent gunmetal-blue toning richly colors each side. A prize for the series enthusiast. Housed in an old green label holder. Population for all 1805/4 varieties: 7 in 55, 8 finer (3/17).
