1895 50C PR68 PCGS. CAC. This splendid Superb Gem is tied numerically for the finest that PCGS has certified. The 1895 is always a popular date for proof silver coinage from a mintage of 880 coins. The most famous proof of this year is the 1895 Morgan dollar, and that issue enhances the importance of all 1895 proofs. This example is a borderline Cameo proof, although not designated as such. Both sides have fully and deeply mirrored fields around the satiny devices, beneath a dramatic presentation of sea-green and iridescent toning with an oval of brilliant silver on the obverse.
