Proof Seated Dollars
1858 $1 PR64 Cameo NGC. CAC. OC-P1, Low R.4. The 1858 is the sole proof-only date of the Seated Liberty dollar series. The Guide Book mintage is a mere 210 pieces, and many are impaired. The present brilliant specimen is problem-free, and shows a full strike aside from minor blending on the top of the left (facing) wing. Liberty and the eagle are frosty, and demonstrate significant contrast with the glassy fields. For identification purposes, we note a tiny retained lamination on the field west of the lower half of the lowest arrowhead. Census: 3 in 64 Cameo (1 in 64+), 3 finer (3/17).
