Proof Seated Dollars
1873 $1 PR66 Cameo NGC. OC-P1, R.3. Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing list OC-P1 among their Top 30 varieties, due to the clear die doubling on IN GOD WE. OC-P1 is the only proof die variety for the date, used to strike all 600 pieces. This is an attractively toned specimen with lavender-red, orange-gold, and ocean-blue patina throughout the margins. The fields and motifs are principally brilliant. The strike is bold, and both major devices display substantial cameo frost. An important example from the final year of the Motto type. Census: 3 in 66 Cameo (1 in 66★), 0 finer (3/17).
