Morgan Dollars
1884-S $1 MS63 PCGS. Following the large mintage years for silver dollars at San Francisco from 1878 to 1882, production dropped in 1883, and dropped again in 1884, with a total of just 3.2 million Morgan dollars minted in 1884. Silver dollars were struck continuously through the year, and most examples were released into circulation. Small quantities were released from storage in the early and middle 20th century, but few remained in treasury vaults during the extensive distribution of the early 1960s. While circulated examples are plentiful today, Mint State 1884-S Morgan dollars are extremely rare when compared to most other issues of the series. This Select Mint State example has brilliant silver surfaces and sharp design motifs with minimal surface marks as the grade suggests. It is a highly appealing example for the grade, and will prove to be a wonderful addition to a Set Registry collection. Population: 54 in 63 (4 in 63+), 14 finer (3/17).
