Morgan Dollars
1889-CC $1 MS62 PCGS. Compared to the other mints, the Carson City Mint was a minor player in the production of Morgan dollars from 1878 to 1893, when that facility closed its doors. Total production for all 13 issues during that period (none were coined from 1886 through 1888) was just 13,766,041 coins. Only 350,000 of those silver dollars were minted in 1889, and exactly one coin remained when the GSA released more than 2 million Carson City dollars in the 1970s. This splendid example has natural silver-gray luster with scattered grade-consistent marks and delicate peripheral gold toning.
