1934-S $1 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. The 1934-S is popular as the most elusive Peace dollar in Uncirculated condition. In A Guide Book of Peace Dollars, Roger Burdette writes: "The 1934-S should form the cornerstone of a Peace dollar collection. If there is one coin that should warrant a premium outlay of funds, this is it." The average Uncirculated coin grades MS63 or MS64. Collectors seeking to acquire a high-quality example should strive for the Gem grade level if funds allow. Gems are scarce on the market, and finer examples are decidedly rare.
