Early Half Eagles
1807 $5 Bust Right, BD-4, High R.4 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Bass-Dannreuther Die State c/a. The 1807 Capped Bust Right half eagle has a reported mintage of 32,488 pieces, with six die varieties known for the date and type. BD-4 is among the more plentiful varieties of this date, although it is still scarce, with fewer than 90 pieces believed known. The present coin is evenly struck and well-centered, although some weakness appears on the central devices with remnants of adjustment marks (mint-made) in the vicinity of the eagle's neck and shield. Both sides are bright yellow-gold with soft, satiny texture.
