Liberty Double Eagles
1875-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. Variety 2-B. Nine obverse dies and four reverse dies were combined to form 15 documented varieties for the 1875-CC double eagles, more than are known for any other double eagle issued at the Carson City Mint. With that number of die varieties, it is no surprise that the mintage was considerable, the second highest Carson City double eagle mintage of the series at 111,151 pieces. Only the 1876-CC with 10 varieties had a higher mintage. This splendid Mint State piece has brilliant and highly lustrous yellow surfaces with faintly reflective fields and a few scattered marks on each side.
