Patterns
1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1310, Pollock-1453, R.4, PR66 NGC. This popular William Barber Trade dollar pattern shows Liberty seated on the obverse with an Indian headdress, Liberty pole and cap in her right hand, left hand resting on a globe, and conjoined flags behind. The reverse has a small eagle in the upper half with most of the statutory legends above and below, two of which are on scrolls. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Sold in silver six-piece sets by the Mint for $30. This design combination exists in silver, copper, aluminum, and white metal. This example is well-preserved and shows deeply reflective fields with varying shades of lighter red and deeper cherry-red (at the margins) and a thin trimming of blue over the denticles.
From The Siegel Collection.
