1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, AU50 NGC. A Top 100 Variety. The curious Guide Book variety with heavy die chips throughout the mintmark, believed from a Mint attempt to efface a prior impression of a small Carson City mintmark. Untoned and partly lustrous with a few minor marks near the chin.
