1896-O $1 MS63 PCGS. The Mint State availability of this challenging New Orleans issue begins to drop off in MS63, and above that it is rare. PCGS has seen 32 finer submissions, with all but three only in MS64 (3/17). This Select representative displays an unusually bold strike for the issue, with satiny silver luster and pleasantly few abrasions. At some angles, the light marks on the cheek fade from view, giving the coin the look of a higher grade.
