1896-S $1 AU58 PCGS. VAM-2. The top of the 6 is repunched. The 1896-S has a generous mintage of 5,000,000 pieces but is surprisingly scarce in AU and better grades. This near-Mint example is brilliant aside from scattered peripheral gunmetal freckles. Luster fills the borders, and the fields and portrait exhibit light to moderate abrasions.
