Commemorative Silver
1936 50C Boone MS68 PCGS. CAC. The Philadelphia-issued Daniel Boone Bicentennial half dollar of 1934 was the precursor to a series of Boone commemoratives, produced at all three mints, that lasted through 1938. The 1936 Philadelphia issue was struck to the extent of 12,012 pieces (including 12 assay coins), which were distributed at $1.10 each. Many fine Gems survive, but the nearly perfect technical quality necessary for an MS68 designation is showcased by only a handful of pieces. This incredible representative is boldly struck and displays radiant satin luster. Traces of iridescence accentuate much of each side, while splashes of pine-green, olive, and violet appear along the lower obverse and upper-right reverse borders. This piece is tied with four others as the finest at PCGS (3/17).
