1881 5C Hawaii Five Cent Pattern -- Filed Rims -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Medcalf 2CN-1, KM-2. An original 1881 Hawaii pattern five cent piece, struck in business-strike format, with a cross on top of the crown on the reverse (restrikes are proofs, with a period on top of the crown). The official Hawaii five cent coinage was not struck until 1883. This coin shows only light wear on the strongly impressed design elements and the surfaces are lightly abraded, with traces of prooflike reflectivity in selected areas. Unfortunately, there is evidence of filing on the rims.
