1883 10C Hawaii Ten Cents PR62 ANACS. The 1883 proofs are the keys to a complete collection of Hawaiian coinage. The dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar (respectively denominated as umi keneta, hapaha, hapalua, and akahi dala) have a proof mintage of only 26 pieces. The eighth-dollar (the Hawaiian economy was then based on the real denomination) is even rarer, since it is proof-only and has a mintage of just 20 pieces. All 1883 proofs were struck at the Philadelphia Mint and are single-year types. The present proof dime exhibits beautiful peripheral aquamarine, plum-red, golden-brown toning. The motifs and legends display undesignated cameo frost. Certified in a small-sized holder.
