1886 12.5C Grove Ranch Plantation 12 1/2 Cent Token -- Environmental Damage -- NGC Details. Fine. Medcalf TE-16. The Grove Ranch was a Maui sugar plantation, located about six miles south of the Haiku Plantation, and about 12 miles east of the Wailuku Plantation. The Grove Ranch was more than 3,800 acres in size, but one-bit tokens from that operation, dated 1886 or 1887, are rare today. This is a mahogany-brown example with unevenly granular surfaces that nonetheless show all design elements, including the date, initials, and denomination. Listed on page 421 of the 2017 Guide Book.
