1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1281, Pollock-1423, R.4, PR65 Cameo NGC. The obverse, designed by J. A. Bailly, features a coiled hair bust of Liberty facing left. The reverse resembles the Amazonian pattern silver dollar, except for a reduction in the size of the eagle and the addition of the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM above and the weight and fineness below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Judd-1281 is the most frequently seen version of this design which was produced for sale to collectors in six-piece proof sets. The devices are remarkably frosted and contrast noticeably against the deeply mirrored fields. Pale reddish patina turns a shade or two deeper around the margins with an occasional dab of blue interspersed.
