1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1310, Pollock-1453, R.4, PR64 NGC. CAC. The William Barber design for the Trade dollar. The obverse centers around a seated Liberty facing left with 13 stars around and the date below. Liberty wears an Indian headdress and holds a Liberty pole with cap. Her left hand rests on a globe with LIBERTY inscribed; two flags are behind. The reverse features a small eagle clutching three arrows and an olive branch. Below the eagle appear 420 GRAINS and 900 FINE. Above the eagle is a banner inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM and below, another reading IN GOD WE TRUST. The peripheral inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TRADE DOLLAR. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The fields display remarkably deep, evenly reflective mirrors on each side and light, even reddish patina. A magnificent example of this stately Trade dollar pattern.
