Gold Dollars
1849 G$1 No L, D-1, Normal Stars, MS64+ PCGS. The two repunched stars below the bust confirm the attribution as the ephemeral No L variety. Breen (1988) reported a mintage of 1,000 pieces, but that has since been questioned due to the number of Uncirculated survivors. But coins with a precise strike, flashy luster, and smooth fields, such as the present near-Gem, will always be in demand.
