Liberty Quarter Eagles
1852-D $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Variety 16-N. The '52-D is a very scarce issue with a mintage of only 4,078 pieces. Bullion depositors at Dahlonega preferred payment in half eagles. Gold dollars and quarter eagles were typically coined in much lower quantities. This unblemished apricot-gold representative shows ample luster and a superior strike for the remote Southern branch mint facility. Census: 11 in 58, 4 finer (3/17).
