1911-D $2 1/2 AU53 NGC. Strong D. The exposed mintmark on Indian Head gold coins quickly wore away in circulation, although this AU 1911-D quarter eagle still shows a discernible D that is visible to the unaided eye. The coin as a whole is well-struck with high-point wear mainly visible on the eagle's shoulder. A few scattered abrasions are not unusual for the grade.
