Early Half Eagles
1811 $5 Small 5, BD-2, R.3 -- Tooled -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State undetermined. Both the obverse and reverse surfaces were rather extensively smoothed, presumably to remove marks and abrasions, but any clash marks or other die state identifiers were lost in the process. The khaki-gold fields show a greenish tinge and small marks as well as some unevenness from the tooling. The BD-2 variety features a Small 5 in the denomination.
