1838-D $5 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. McCloskey 1-A, R.3. The 1838-D half eagle is the first issue from the Dahlonega Mint. It is also the only D-mint Classic five issue. Soft greenish- and reddish-gold patina runs over both sides of this sharply struck five dollar. The few minor marks do not distract, and the cleaning is not all that bad. A scarce issue.
