Liberty Half Eagles
1845 $5 MS62 NGC. The 1845 is among the more plentiful Liberty half eagles of the 1840s, although it is nonetheless a scarce date in Uncirculated condition. This coin is sharply struck and satiny with straw-gold color. There are no distracting abrasions. When studied with a loupe, light handling marks appear in the fields and these limit the numeric grade without hurting the visual appeal. Census: 17 in 62 (3 in 62+), 14 finer (3/17).
