1859 $5 AU55 NGC. With a low mintage of only 16,700 coins, the 1859 half eagle is actually scarcer than many branch mint issues of the era, and is particularly rare in Mint State condition. This Choice Almost Uncirculated piece displays light orange-gold color overall, with remnants of mint luster in the recesses near the borders. The motifs are well-struck, with only light wear seen over the high points. Census: 15 in 55, 21 finer (3/17).
