Indian Half Eagles
1908 $5 MS65 PCGS. The 1908 Indian half eagle was widely saved due to its first-year issue status, and it is far and away the most plentiful date in Gem and finer grades, outpacing even the available 1909-D. Not surprisingly, then, the issue is ideal for type representation. This Gem example boasts sharp detail and satiny yellow-gold luster. A few minute surface ticks preclude an even finer grade, but they are not discernable to the naked eye. PCGS has certified just 25 numerically finer representatives (3/17).
