Indian Half Eagles
1909-O $5 XF45 PCGS Secure. Variety 1. The reasons for the popularity of the 1909-O are threefold: It has the lowest mintage in the series (34,200 coins), is the only New Orleans Indian Head half eagle, and represents the final gold emission from the Southern Mint. This lightly circulated key date has orange-gold coloration and strong detail remaining on the motifs. A couple of minor marks appear left of the Indian's nose and the eagle's head.
