1851-O $20 AU55 PCGS. Variety 1. Die chips in front of Liberty's eye and the mintmark placement identify the die pair. The 1851-O is the go-to issue for collectors looking for a New Orleans No Motto double eagle for type representation. It claims a vast mintage of 315,000 coins, and can be found in VF and XF without much searching. About Uncirculated survivors are scarce, especially in the mid-to-upper levels. Mint State examples are very rare. This partly lustrous 1851-O twenty has deep orange-gold color and incredibly strong design detail for the type and facility. The reverse features a hint of reflectivity. Lightly abraded. Population: 48 in 55, 31 finer (3/17).
