Liberty Double Eagles
1853 $20 MS60 PCGS. Mint State examples of this Gold Rush-era Philadelphia double eagle are scarce. This coin is unworn but heavily abraded, as the grade indicates. Vibrant yellow-gold luster nonetheless penetrates the abrasions on each side, illuminating the fields and well-struck design elements. A heavy linear mark on Liberty's cheek is more prominent than the rest. Population: 3 in 60, 44 finer (3/17).
