Liberty Double Eagles
1871-S $20 MS61 PCGS. CAC. Although the San Francisco Mint produced 928,000 double eagles in 1871, few of those have survived in Mint State grades. In fact, PCGS and NGC combined have only certified 316 submissions graded MS60 or finer. This example has brilliant yellow-gold luster and trivial, grade-consistent marks. Population: 58 in 61, 33 finer. CAC: 15 in 61, 8 finer (3/17).
