Liberty Double Eagles
1872 $20 MS61 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint coined relatively few Type Two double eagles when compared to San Francisco production. This issue had a mintage of 251,850 examples, and only 115 examples from that mintage are PCGS graded MS60 or finer. This piece has brilliant yellow gold luster with dark patina on the high points from long-term vault storage. An outstanding example. Population: 57 in 61, 11 finer (3/17).
