Liberty Double Eagles
1882-CC $20 XF45 NGC. CAC. Variety 1-B. The mintmark slants slightly upward. A spike occurs in front of Liberty's eye. Double eagle production resumed at the Carson City Mint in 1882 after a two-year hiatus, with output reaching 39,140 coins. The issue is well-made and popular among collectors for that reason. This lovely Choice XF example has overtly original reddish-gold color, partial luster, and strong strike detail. Minimally marked with a "dirty gold" look that should appeal to specialists. Seldom offered with CAC approval.
