Liberty Double Eagles
1893-CC $20 AU58 NGC. Variety 2-A. A simple diagnostic is the raised spike that juts out from the base of Liberty's neck. Only 18,402 double eagles were struck at the Carson City Mint in the final year of its operation. Although practically indiscernible rub appears over the highest points of the design, this near-Mint double eagle boasts lively, frosty luster and relatively smooth fields. Green-gold hues color each side.
