1922-S $20 MS63 PCGS. Despite numerous discoveries in European and South American holdings, the 1922-S remains a scarce, much-melted issue. From an original mintage of more than 2.6 million pieces, recent research by Roger Burdette estimates survival of not more than 2,100 pieces. This sharply struck Select Uncirculated example displays rich-gold color with attractive greenish overtones. The frosted surfaces show only widely distributed, tiny marks while the strike is quite sharp. Interesting die cracks run through LIBERTY.
