Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles
1923-D $20 MS66 PCGS. Many 1923-D double eagles are exceptionally well-produced, and this Premium Gem is one of them. Satin-smooth surfaces display a sharp strike, with full finger definition on both hands, a full complement of windows in the Capitol dome, and full figural definition on the portrait from the flowing hair strands to the toes. Pale wheat-gold color displays faint orange accents at the margins. There are no distracting marks to mention on the obverse, while a pair of tiny red alloy spots are nestled in the wings. PCGS reports 73 numerically finer examples (3/17).
