PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT, Ptolemy I Soter, 305-282 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 14.30 g 12), signed by D..., Alexandria, 300-285. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck; within his hair behind his ear, tiny letter Δ. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on thunderbolt; to left, Ρ above monogram of ΠΑΡ. Noeske 41-42. SNG Copenhagen 70-71. Svoronos 255. With a sharply struck portrait. Very minor marks on the obverse, and with a reverse struck from a rusty die, otherwise, extremely fine.
