PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT, Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 14.27 g 12), signed by D..., Alexandria. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck; within his hair behind his ear, tiny letter Δ. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on thunderbolt; to left, ΣΤ above monogram of ΠΑ. SNG Copenhagen 87. Svoronos 368. Toned and with a wonderful portrait. Some unimportant flat striking on the obverse, minor scratches and marks, and with a very slightly off-center reverse, otherwise , about extremely fine.
