ANGOLA: Maria II, 1834-1853, ND [1837], SET of two coins, KM-54 AE macuta, and KM-52 AE 2 macutas, countermarked crowned arms on Angola ½ macuta KM-28 (VF) and on Angola macuta KM-20 (EF), both host coins dated 1786, set of 2 coins. The 1837 countermarking edict mandated that a crowned arms mark be applied to all circulating copper coins. Coins so altered would circulate at double their previous face value.
