ARAB-SASANIAN: Salm. b. Ziyad, ca. 680-685, AR drachm (3.25g), Marw & Anbir, AH65, A-18H, Gaube, p.29 (note 19), bism Allah Allah / akbar in ObQ2 & ObQ3, four outer circles on reverse, with the city name ombero for Anbir in Bactrian script in RvQ5, with Bactrian countermark zolado (Göbl #40) twice in obverse margin, chipped though part of the Arabic word akbar, VF, RRRR. The reverse bears the mint name (MLW) for Marw and the date 65 in the standard locations. Strictly speaking, this is a Hunnic or Hephthalite issue, either struck at Marw on behalf of the Huns, or more likely, struck at a Hunnic mint, presumably at Anbir. However, it is clearly an Islamic issue, and believed to be the first appearance of the slogan "Allah akbar" on a coin.
