Maurice Tiberius. 582-602. Æ Half Follis (21mm, 6.08 g, 6h). Constantinople mint, 4th officina. Dated RY 1 (582/3). Crowned and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger and shield / Large K; cross above, A/N/N/O I (date) across field, ∆ below. DOC (46b) = Tolstoi 225 = MIBE 69B; SB 497. Fine, dark green patina with reddish earthen highlights/deposits. Very rare for RY 1, officina ∆. Both DOC and MIBE cite the Tolstoi specimen, and MIBE includes two other specimens in the Vienna and Istanbul cabinets.
