Charles I (1625-49), Pontefract, posthumous issue, in the name of Charles II, octagonal Shilling, 1648, 4.60g, carol ii d g mag b f et h rex, crown above hanc de/vs: dedit/1648 in three lines, rev. post mortem patris pro filio, crenellated gateway defended by cannon, obs and p-c in surrounding field (Brooker 1235 same dies; N.2649; S.3151), dark tone with minor peripheral weakness at twelve o'clock, otherwise good fine and rare.
